a return engagement to New York for a concert at the Madison Square Garden

Blondie did more than just take a skip through their back catalogue at their zippy reunion show at The Theater at Madison Square Garden Thursday. They surveyed the last 30 years of music history.

In one number alone, "Atomic," the group whipped together elements of ska, disco, new wave, surf-rock and spaghetti Western soundtracks. In other songs, they touched on '60s Brit-pop, girl group music, jazz, punk rock, reggae, rap everything but zouk.
With such a reach, it became hard to see the group in nostalgic terms, though memory couldn't help but play a big part in the evening's thrill....
