It was once more into the bleach as Blondie jubilantly launched its first North American tour in 16 years Saturday night at a sold-out Orpheum Theatre.
The band, enhanced by three touring musicians, played a taut, engaging 80-minute set that spanned the new wave popsters entire recorded career from 1976's self titled debut to its current critcally and commercially successful "No Exit."
....it was nothing but net as the group dove into its rich musical history - a successful hybrid of punk, new wave, disco, pop and rock - to play not only familiar hits but a handful of fan favorites and a smattering of the best new tunes.
Emerging in a black leather skirt, sparkly gold top and shades, Harry hid her famous two-tone blonde mop under a hat during the insistent opener, "Dreaming," which, as all the songs ultimately did, featured the impressive drumming of Burke....
