"Who I Admire" by Dan Lideen

Dan is a very articulate high school student, who was a sophomore when he wrote this essay. As Dan explains it: "I had to write a 150 word literature essay about someone that I admire. So I picked....you guessed it, Debbie Harry. I wanted to share...my essay." What follows is the original essay with some additional material.--Ed.
"Dreaming...dreaming is free." This is a quote from a song by a band that I truly follow, called Blondie. But the person I admire most is the band's lead singer, Debbie Harry. Blondie may date back to the 70s, but they're still around today and Debbie Harry still carries a special charm that compels me to admire her.
I can't really describe what it is. If you calculated her age (55, going on 56 in July), you'd say she's old enough to be my grandma. But because of her hip attitude, glamorous image, and influential voice, you'd have no idea that this woman wasn't a day over 30....
