2014 Missouri Choral Directors Association Opus Award

  • This award is presented annually to one outstanding choral composition that exemplifies the highest standard of choral music composition and is an original composition (not an arrangement of previously existing musical material) by a Missouri composer and/or commissioned by a Missouri choral ensemble in a school, church, or community setting.


  • Music Associates of Aspen Scholarship (Summer 1994)
    • Received a Music Associates of Aspen Scholarship to attend the Aspen Music School's Advanced Master Class Program in Composition.


  • Boston University Symphony Orchestra Composition Competition Winner (1994)
    • Composition selected for performance by the orchestra in its first annual competition. 
  • Graduate Assistantship in Composition (1992-93)
  • ASCAP-Raymond B. Hubbell Memorial Scholarship Award (1991-92)
  • Dean's Scholar for the Arts (1991-92, 1990-91 and 1989-90)
    • A full tuition and stipend fellowship to attend the DMA program in Composition.


  • Louis Sudler Prize in the Arts (1989)
    • This award is presented annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence or the highest standards of proficiency in music, theater, painting, sculpture, design, architecture or film. The Prize was established in 1982 by Mr. Sudler, a performer in the arts and an arts patron from Chicago. An endowment fund provides a $1,000 award to the honoree.
