Below is a brief tour of our facilities. It's not complete, and the page will take a while to download. But we're working on it! Click on any photo to view a larger version of it. Be sure to click your "back" button to return to the gallery. Enjoy the tour!

KDRU studio photo   In September 2001, KDRU moved into this new studio on the first floor of Shewmaker Communication Center. It's monstrous when compared to our old studio across the hall, under the stairs. The studio includes room for three guests for our talk shows, plus space for small bands to perform live. An a news booth is behind the window on the left.

Our on-air console is a10-channel, 20-input Arrakis 1200 series broadcast console. Next to it is the monitor for our automation system, Digital Drew.

Automation system photo
We built our own system using Pentium 233mHz computers and Digital Jukebox software.
A closer view of our automation system. Our DJs use the system to play all programming content. The monitor displays title and artist for every song as well as a countdown introduction to each song. The on-air computer in the studiois networked to a separate production computer in our office. We load all recorded program elements into the production system which automatically backs everything up to the on-air system. Our Program Director and Music Director handle all programming duties.

KDRU produced a call-in/discussion program about the September 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S. It was the first talk/interview program produced in our new studio. Seated left to right are Jennifer Nelson, D'Lisa McGee, and Dr. Ruth Bamberger.

Jon San Paolo photo   Here's another shot from that same program. KDRU Program Director Jon San Paolo served as engineer for the show.

Here's another view of our studio. The walls are covered with Auralex 2-inch Pyramid Studio Foam panels, accented by 2-inch wide pine wood strips. A pair of JBL 4206 Studio Monitor speakers hang near the ceiling. Shure SM7B microphones are mounted on O.C. White spring Mic arms. Banners with the KDRU logo hang on the walls and are used for remotes. Students receive credit for working at the station.

Dave Hines photo   KDRU and Drury alum Dave Hines continues to serve as "the voice" of KDRU, providing many of our liners and station IDs.

On Air sign photo   If you'd like to visit KDRU in person, it's not hard to find us in Shewmaker. Just look for our sign in the lobby outside the studio. But please don't knock on the glass or door when the "ON AIR" sign is lit! You might frigthen the DJ!

That's our brief tour. Come back and visit our gallery again later this semester when we'll be adding more photos.
